We all love buying new clothes, we wear them thrice before they end up sitting in the corner of our closet. It sounds wasteful, but how wasteful is it actually?
Environmental and Social Impacts
The fashion industry contributes to 10% of global carbon emissions, which is more than aviation and shipping combined
It takes 2,720 litres of water to manufacture one cotton shirt, this is enough drinking water for one person for 3 years.
In many countries, garment workers earn less than a living wage, and various fast fashion supply chains have been linked to child labour. The lack of transparency, however, makes it hard to track the company’s unethical actions. 93% of fast fashion companies don’t disclose their full supply chains

How We Play a Part
The pressures to keep up can be tough; fast fashion encourages a “wear once, throw away” mindset, where new trends are updated rapidly, making consumers feel out of date. Brands like Zara, for example, release 24+ collections per year.

What Can We Do
We understand that controlling the urge to get new clothes would not solve the problem; after all, there is nothing wrong with wanting a new addition to your closet. This is why we are promoting second-hand clothing, where you wear your new favourites for a few times, and sell them to someone else, or buy someone else's! In our blog, we share styling tips for second-hand clothing and provide a platform to connect with other second-hand fashion enthusiasts, from whom you can buy and sell pieces.
