Madi's Handmade Halloween looks

What inspired your Halloween outfit this year?

I love the prequels of Star Wars, so I wanted to create my own Padmé outfit.

What materials do you usually use?

I bought fabric from the thrift store. I bought 1 yard of fabric and repurposed a skirt to create this.

How long have you been creating your own costumes?

My mom used to make our Halloween costumes every year, so I grew up making costumes. I worked as a costume technician in theatre, but my confidence in making costumes really took off in High School.

How long did it take you to make the costume from start to finish?

It took 5 hours total over the course of a week. I finished it an hour before going out.

What was the most challenging part of creating it?

It was challenging to get it to fit perfectly, without a pattern. I had to eyeball my proportions.

Do you make costumes for other people?

Yes, this Halloween I also made this outfit for my housemate Maya out of an old tiger-patterned sweater.
